Obituary for Gene Plombon

Gene Plombon of Buhl died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Oct. 24, 2017, after a courageous 5 year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Gene was born Sept. 10, 1947 in St. Cloud, MN to Thomas and Esther Plombon. He graduated from Chisholm high school in 1965, where he held the 100 yard backstroke record for over 30 years. He then attended Bemidji State and graduated in 1969.

He was a long time resident of Buhl, where he was employed as the public works foreman. He was an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman. Gene loved traveling, fossil hunting, spending time in his garden, and above all, being with his family.

He is survived by his beloved and supportive wife, Cheri, who was the love of his life. Children: Mark Plombon, Monica Hill (Mike) and Casey (Jess) Plombon. Grandchildren: Mason Hill, Brody Hill, Zoe Plombon, and Tia Plombon. Siblings: Tom Plombon (Kathy), Joann Dietz, Gary (Roxy) Plombon, and Robert Plombon (Jodi).

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Dale Dietz, and numerous friends and family.

Gene's family would like to thank Dr. Streitz, Dr. McWilliams, Dr. Provatas, Dr. Bastianelli, and the hospice staff for their excellent care.

There will be a celebration of life lunch at the Buhl-Kinney Senior Center on Friday Nov. 3rd at 2:00. In memory of Gene and his love for hunting, let's see some orange!
Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
