Obituary for Genevieve Susan Marchetti

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Chisholm, MN, with Fr. Anthony Craig as celebrant. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

Genevieve Susan Marchetti, 92, of Chisholm, died Friday, July 13, 2018, at CentraCare Hospital in Monticello, MN. She was born February 22, 1926, in Hibbing to Peter and Mary Belluci.

Genevieve was a graduate of Hibbing High School and also graduated from Hibbing Community College with an AA degree in 1945. She worked at Montgomery Wards in Hibbing. Genevieve also worked as a secretary in the St. Louis County Probation Office in Hibbing for 22 years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chisholm. Genevieve loved animals and often picked up a stray cat or dog. She was extremely creative: she designed costumes, sewed, and painted her house thirteen times. She was also very independent and even changed the oil in her car by herself for many years. Genevieve would try to repair anything around the house that may have broken. She loved being around her great-grandchildren, saying it made her feel young. She participated in the highway clean-up project on highway 73 north and delivered for Meals on Wheels for many years. Genevieve loved to play the piano, go bowling, and play cribbage and bocce ball. She also enjoyed gambling in Las Vegas. She was the former owner of Clarks Lounge in Chisholm along with her former husband, Angelo Marchetti, Jr.

Genevieve is survived by her children, Dennis (Roslyn) Marchetti and Susan Marchetti; brother, Donald Belluci; grandchildren, Dennis (Susie) Marchetti, Geno Marchetti, and Tony Marchetti; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Emily, Vincent, Joseph, Mario, and Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mary Belluci; sister, Marie Bushnell; and brothers, Richard, Pete, James, and Peter Belluci.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Range Regional Animal Rescue.
