Obituary for Marlis Mae Tiedeman

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Buhl with Fr. Anthony Craig celebrating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Buhl. Arrangements are entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Chisholm.

Marlis Mae Tiedeman, 71, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. She was born May 30, 1946, in Pipestone, Minn., to John E. and Georgianna C. (Nece) Engbarth. She was a Ruthon High School graduate.

Marlis was united in marriage to Vernon Tiedeman on May 8, 1965, in Woodstock, Minn. She was the owner/operator of Billy’s Bar and Café for many years. Marlis enjoyed cooking, playing poker, traveling with her husband, and devoting time to her family.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Thomas) La Via and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Tiedeman; grandchildren, Aaron, Colton, Jordan, Parker, Vincenzo, Milena, Annabella, Anna Elise, Luca, Braden, Brant, and Brenna; great grandchildren, Shyanna, Aticus, and Azura; siblings, Sharon (Arden) Nelson, Connie Price, Jack (Faye) Engbarth, Bill (Carolyn) Engbarth, Pat (Cindy) Engbarth, Mary Engbarth-DeKam, Mark (Lynette) Engbarth, and Alfred (Karen) Engbarth; and brother-in-law, Wally (Marlyn) Tiedeman. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon on March 15, 2017; son, Jason; and brother, Michael George Engbarth.
