Obituary for Mary Ann Schwartz

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chisholm, with Fr. Anthony Craig celebrating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing. Arrangements are entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Chisholm.

Mary Ann Schwartz, 90, Chisholm, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing. She was born in Hibbing on January 9, 1928, to Anton and Martha Pavelich. Mary grew up in Penobscot Location, one of nine children.

Mary married George Schwartz and they made their home in Great Falls, Montana, before moving back to Hibbing.

Mary was a hard worker; over her working career she worked at various businesses including: Sabin’s Bar and Liquor Store, Minnesota Twist Drill, and The Pasta Factory. She was a sharp dresser, had an eye for decorating, was very good in ceramics, loved to polka, and she was also an avid walker.

She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

Mary loved her children and adored her grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas (Donna) of Robbinsdale, MN, Patrick (fiancée Susan) of Grand Rapids, MN, and Michael (Susan) of Hibbing, MN; two grandchildren, Valerie Satre of Lakeville, MN, and Jonathan (Ellen) Schwartz of Elk River, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; sisters, Katie, Ann, Barb, Ag, and Mertz; and brothers, Tony, Nick, and George.
