Mildred Evelyn Olofson passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at the age of 96 at Heritage Manor Health Care Center in Chisholm, Minn. Millie was born on February 23, 1921, in River Falls Township of Pennington County, Minn., to Peter and Hildur Gustafson.

Millie married Arthur Olofson on September 9, 1943, in Salinas, Calif., where Art was stationed in the military. After Art’s discharge from the Army Air Corps, they settled briefly in Thief River Falls, Minn., before settling permanently in Chisholm, Minn. Art was employed by U.S. Steel, and Millie was a homemaker. Together, they raised six children, Mernie, Peter, Debbie, Dale, Joan, and Jeffrey.

Millie was very involved with Grace Lutheran Church in Chisholm, Minn., including the Ladies Guild, later LWML. Millie participated in the Chisholm Senior Citizens Organization and delivered Meals on Wheels.

She loved visiting with people, even strangers, enjoyed a cup of coffee and a cookie, and loved spending time with her grandchildren, baking, and playing canasta.

Millie spent her last few years at Heritage Manor Health Care Center, and her family would like to say thanks to the wonderful staff there.

Millie is survived by five children, Peter (Cheryl) Olofson, Debbie (Andrew) Jaramillo, Dale (Barbara) Olofson, Joan Carlson, and Jeffrey (Jill) Olofson; eight grandchildren, Jerad, Benjamin, Christopher, Dana, and Jennifer Olofson, Andrew Jaramillo Jr, and Kaylie Weiner and Ryan Carlson; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; daughter, Mernie; Mernie’s son, Scott; her twin sister, Jeanette (Kay); and seven older brothers and sisters.
