Victoria Jean (Laurich) Bennett, 61, of Eveleth, MN, went to her heavenly home on Friday, April 14, 2017, after a long battle with breast cancer. Vickie was born on October 18, 1955, to Victor and Anne (Jenko) Laurich in Chisholm, MN. She graduated from Chisholm High School in the class of 1974. She attended St. Cloud Vocational Technical Institute and became certified as a registered dental assistant and later received her AS in nursing degree from Hibbing Community College. Vickie trained to work in home dialysis and moved to California to continue her career. She received her certified nephrology credentials, moved back to Minnesota, and worked in that field until her health caused her to retire in 2014.

Vickie’s infectious laughter and zest for life made it a joy to be in her company. Her thoughtfulness and caring for others are traits to which we should all aspire. She was especially proud of her Slovenian heritage, enjoying the music and food. She learned the art of making potica and strudel from her mother and hoped to have these traditions carried on by sharing her skills with many others. Vickie loved the finer things that life had to offer, enjoying travel and casino gaming, but most of all she loved the company of family and friends.

Vickie is survived by her husband of 26 years, George; stepchildren, Annette Beise and Brad (Sandy) Bennett; grandchildren, Miranda Beise, Dane Beise, and Brenden Bennett; great-granddaughters, Aleigha and Lily; sisters, Sharon (Dave) Terzich, Kathleen (Bruce) Anderson, and Patti Farr; nieces, Kimberly (Larry) Heise, Kristin (Lance) Hovland; nephews, Bryan (Janine) Terzich, Brad (Terasa) Anderson, and Joel Scott; and a special “niece”, Jessica Ress-Spencer; and many cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials in Vickie’s name to a charity of your choice.
